TOP FIVE WEDNESDAY: Top five publishers

I never used to pay much attention to publishers, but since I've been reviewing and working closely with them I've quickly come to have favourites.
Sometimes I'll read the synopsis of a novel on NetGalley and I won't feel convinced by it, but it'll be by one of these five publishers so I'll request it anyway - 9 times out of 10 I'm not disappointed!

5) Curiosity Quills/Patchwork Press

Tied in fifth place are my two favourite independent publishers. I wouldn't have gotten as far as I have with my blog if it wasn't for the supportive folks at Curiosity Quills and Patchwork Press, who eagerly invite those with little to no experience to participate in their blog tours and read their titles.

4) HarperCollins Children's

Specifically the HarperTeen and Balzer + Bray imprints. The social media side of things is brilliant, thanks to the wonderful EpicReads, but their titles are hit and miss: through them I've discovered some of my favourite books ('Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda', 'Snow Like Ashes') and some of my least favourites ('Queen of Hearts', 'Playlist For The Dead').

3) Macmillan Children's

Promoted by the wonderful MyKindaBook, I can't remember the last time a Macmillan YA novel disappointed me. Publishing Rainbow Rowell, Frances Hardinge and Sara Barnard, most of my favourites are Macmillan releases, but I haven't read as many of their releases as I should have.

2) Hodderscape

The SFF imprint of Hodder gave me Pierce Brown's 'Red Rising' trilogy - my favourite series of all time ever - so I'm a little bit biased. However, because I get intimidated by SFF regularly, it's one of the only things that they've released that I've actually read. I own a lot of their books, though!

1) Hot Key Books

Hot Key Books are my favourite publisher of all time, ever. They use nifty little pie charts on the back of their releases to show you what is included in the books - the perfect way to show you whether you'll like the book without giving spoilers. Publishing authors like Juno Dawson, Claire Hennessy and Sara Shepard, I can't remember ever being disappointed by a Hot Key Books release.
