TOP TEN TUESDAY: Ten most anticipated releases for the rest of 2016

(Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and The Bookish!)

At the start of the year I posted a list of my most anticipated releases for the first half of 2016, so as we're entering this later part of the year it's time to give you another ten books that I'm really excited to read.

10) 'Frost Like Night' by Sara Raasch
I enjoyed 'Snow Like Ashes', but it felt like it was one of those books that would improve in relation to the entire series. I decided to wait to read the second installment until the third and final book was released, and 'Frost Like Night' will be out on the 1st of October.

9) 'Our Chemical Hearts' by Krystal Sutherland
I will be honest, I started becoming interested in this one because of the cover with the beautiful fishes. I'm not sure if it's going to be a story that I enjoy, as it seems to be about people falling in love and trying to fix each other, and that's never a good thing to do.
I'll find out how I feel about it for sure when it comes out on the 4th of October.

8) 'What's a Girl Gotta Do?' by Holly Bourne
Do you like feminism? Well you should probably read Holly Bourne's Spinster Club novels, which are filled with empowered and empowering female characters who own their lives despite many hurdles.
'What's a Girl Gotta Do?' is out on August 1st.

7) 'Heartless' by Marissa Meyer
There have been plenty of Alice in Wonderland retellings over the years, but have any of them focused on the Queen of Hearts and exactly how she came to be so evil?
'Heartless' is released towards the end of November.

6) 'Strange the Dreamer' by Laini Taylor
Since being involved in the cover reveal for 'Strange the Dreamer' (UK on the left, US on the right) I've been very excited about Laini Taylor's new novel, which releases on the 29th of September. I haven't read the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy yet, but I'll get around to that eventually.

5) 'The Fate of the Tearling' by Erika Johansen
The final book in 'The Queen of the Tearling' trilogy, 'The Fate of the Tearling' is releasing on December 1st. I haven't read the second installment in the series yet, but I'm going to start work on it fairly soon - it's a monster, so it'll take me a bit of time to get it done.

4) 'Crooked Kingdom' by Leigh Bardugo
The second book in the 'Six of Crows' duology, 'Crooked Kingdom' is coming out at the end of September. When it's finally released, I'm going to power through both of the books - I've heard they're a lot better than the Grisha trilogy, so that's a good sign.

3) 'The Shadow Hour' by Melissa Grey
'The Girl at Midnight' was one of the most exciting debuts I read last year, and I'm dying for 'The Shadow Hour' to be released. The release date has already been pushed back, as it was originally due out in April, but I need to find out what happens to Echo and the gang next!
If the release date doesn't get changed again, 'The Shadow Hour' will be out July 12th.

2) 'This Savage Song' by Victoria Schwab
As soon as I laid eyes on the cover of 'This Savage Song', I knew I needed to pick it up as soon as it came out. It actually released a couple of days ago, and I haven't gotten around to it yet... That's why I'm still counting it as one of my anticipated reads.
If you haven't read any of Victoria Schwab's writing, why not start here?!

1) 'Nothing Tastes as Good' by Claire Hennessy
My copy of 'Nothing Tastes as Good' actually arrived last week, despite the fact that the official release date is July 14th. I haven't picked it up yet, as I'm not sure my heart will be able to take it - as you can probably guess by the title, it's a story about anorexia.

I hope you enjoyed this Top Ten Tuesday! What books are you really looking forward to?

  2. I really like the cover of Our Chemical Hearts. You also reminded me that I really need to start the Tearling series. My husband bought me the first one for Christmas last year. Great list!

    1. I think everyone's looking forward to the series being over, because it's so divisive of opinions.

  7. These look great! Heartless looks amazing and I love the cover. I have Spindle on my list because I love Sleeping Beauty but this looks equally intriguing. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I hadn't heard of Spindle until you just mentioned it! Sleeping Beauty is such a fascinating and under-appreciated tale, I hope the retelling does it justice.

  8. Great list! This Savage Song also made my list this week - I do have yet to read any of her books, but this one just sounds so good! Heartless also sounds so good and I definitely can't wait to read about the Queen of hearts :)
