TOP TEN TUESDAY: Ten new favourite authors I discovered in 2015

(Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and The Bookish!)

Most of these authors have been publishing books for much longer than just 2015, but this is the year that I've finally gotten around to reading them and I've adored them! This is just ten authors, they aren't in any specific order - I've enjoyed them all practically equally.
I had a Top Five Wednesday on a similar topic a few weeks ago, so I won't be including any of the authors on that list, but I've discovered a lot of authors this year so that's fine.

10) Kiera Cass
I've only read 'The Selection', but I really enjoyed it - if the rest of the series is just as good, I'll be very impressed by Kiera's writing style.

9) Chele Cooke
I read Chele's novel 'Teeth' at the beginning of the year, and I'm highly anticipating the sequel.

8) Ernest Cline
I haven't read 'Armada' yet, but 'Ready Player One' is definitely one of the best books I've read in the entirety of 2015.

7) Lily Paradis
After I finished 'Volition' I sat up by myself ugly crying for about an hour. I haven't managed to read 'Ignite' yet, because I'm worried that exactly the same thing is going to happen... I'll be brave one day though.

6) Marie Rutkoski
I read 'The Winner's Curse' and 'The Winner's Crime' back to back, and they were both extraordinary. I'm probably going to die when I read 'The Winner's Kiss'.

5) Sarah J. Maas
I've still only read one Sarah J. Maas book - I know, I'm a huge disappointment! - but I loved 'A Court of Thorns and Roses', and I'm going to try very hard to read the entire Throne of Glass series next year.

4) Neil Gaiman
I've only read one Neil Gaiman book - again, disappointing - but I really enjoyed the creepy atmosphere he conjured in his short story collections, so I'm definitely reading more.

3) Victoria Schwab
I've also only read one Victoria Schwab book - what the hell is wrong with me?! - but I'm drooling with excitement over the upcoming release of 'This Savage Song', and I cannot wait to finally read more of her brilliant work.

2) Holly Black
I've only started reading Holly Black's books this year, because I've been looking at reading the Spiderwick Chronicles but I just never got around to it. I've really loved her standalone novels though, so I'm going to try to read the Curse Workers trilogy at some point in 2016.

1) Leigh Bardugo
Last but most definitely not least, I finally started reading Leigh Bardugo's novels, and I loved them. I've only read the first two books in the Shadow and Bone trilogy right now, but I'm hoping to read 'Ruin and Rising' in the next couple of weeks (hopefully before the New Year!) because I love her writing style and her characters.

I hope you've enjoyed this Top Ten Tuesday! What authors have you discovered this year?

    1. It seems like quite a few people started reading her on ACOTAR! I'm looking forward to Throne of Glass but there's so many of them now, so it's going to take quite a while.

I read Derek Landy for the first time this year (Demon Road) and it was a real blast.

    1. I got accepted for Demon Road on NetGalley, but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet! He's always been really popular with my friends, so I might have to try his books out next year :)

    1. Her writing is amazing - I think her characters are some of the most dimensional that I've ever read.

  7. Other than Neil Gaiman, I can't say as I recall reading any of the other authors on your Top Ten Tuesday post this week, so I have some new to me authors to check out for sure.

Here's a link to my TTT post for the week: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2015/12/top-ten-tuesday-top-ten-new-to-me.html

    1. If you like Neil Gaiman, definitely try out Holly Black - their writing is rather similar, in that she also does twisted fairytales and can get quite dark.

  8. Hope you enjoy the Throne of Glass series when you get to it!
